College description: The university graduate program in atmospheric science is a relatively small, high quality program.The graduate field of atmospheric science offers full financial support, including tuition, stipend, and health insurance, to all students accepted into the university program. Prospective and continuing graduate students are encouraged to apply for full or partial funding from NSF, NASA, AMS, NOAA, and other agencies that offer fellowships and scholarships in the atmospheric sciences.

Graduate Application Requirements

College description: This course is an advanced introduction to environmental data analysis and intended for first year graduate students.

The Graduate Admission Committee no longer considers GRE test scores for admission decisions.

The Personal Statement is their opportunity to clearly establish their research interests and career objectives, in approximately 300 to 400 words A resume is not required, but can be submitted to concisely document their background and credentials.

For international students whose native language is not English, the Test of English as a Foreign Language is required.

The following application materials are required to be submitted by all graduate applicants. Most of these items will be submitted via the online application.

$75 Application Fee : Payment is made at completion of online application.

Application for Georgia Residence Status: applicant must complete this form only if applicant claim Georgia residency. Georgia residency implies that applicant have lived in Georgia for at least twelve months, with a primary purpose other than attending an educational institution in the state.

For Test of English as a Foreign Language , the required minimum total score on the internet-based TOEFL exam is 90. The paper-based TOEFL exam is still accepted with a minimum score of 577.

Atmospheric Sciences Program

College description: The Atmospheric Sciences Program is designed to provide students with a basic foundation in the physical principles, theory, methodological skills, and applications central to the disciplines of meteorology and climatology.Graduate students are central to the Program scholarly and scientific community their research and teaching contributions are central to the university mission.To bring graduate students rapidly and fully into the collegial, scholarly, scientific, and teaching life of the Geography Department, the ASP, and the University.To provide a common foundation for graduate research in atmospheric sciences.To offer opportunities for students to become familiar with current research within the atmospheric sciences .To support as far as possible the financial needs of graduate students through a variety of teaching and research assistantships, fellowships, and other mechanisms.Master graduates in particular have found that their intellectual and technical training in the university department leads to fulfilling careers in multiple fields.

Applicant must apply by the November 30th deadline regardless of their funding situation.

Test scores may be received up to two weeks past the deadline.

Unlike with test scores, letters of recommendation are their responsibility. It is up to applicant to coordinate with their letter writers and give them enough time to submit them by the deadline.

As with GRE or TOEFL scores, their IELTS scores should be sent directly to the university.

MS students must complete 20-24 hours of regular course work selected from the Geoscience, Educational Psychology, Teaching and Learning, and Psychology graduate-level course list.

As of Fall 2020 Earth and Atmospheric Sciences does not require GRE scores.

Although the department has no formal minimum GPA score requirements, offers of financial support, for example Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantships, tend to go to students with the highest academic credentials.
