The Master of Science (M.S.) education program in speech-language pathology (residential) at Boston University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The goal of the program is to prepare students to meet ASHA certification standards and MA state licensure requirements for entering clinical practice.
Admission Details
All credentials and application materials are processed through CSDCAS. Please do not send any application materials to BU.
The 2022-2023 application cycle is closed and will reopen in the summer of 2023.
GRE scores are not required to apply to the program. Any GRE scores received by the program will not be considered by the admissions committee.
For international students whose first language is not English, official TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic scores are required unless applicant have completed a baccalaureate degree at an institution where the primary language of instruction is English.
Students who are most competitive for admission will have a composite TOEFL iBT score of at least 90-100 and minimum scores of 20 in each section.
Three letters of recommendation are required.
Letters of recommendation must be submitted through CSDCAS by following these instructions.
Each essay should be limited to 1500 characters, or approximately 250 words, and submitted within the CSDCAS application when prompted.
Physical Sciences
This coursework is not required to apply.
This course was specifically designed for non-CSD majors and includes guided observation hours and required coursework on the methods and procedures used to treat individuals with communication and swallowing disorders.
Section of the CSDCAS application, be sure to select the combined MS/PhD program when prompted.
Combined MS/PhD applicants are required to submit a fourth short-answer essay.
