Masters programs in Chemical Engineering which do not require GRE - Updated 2021
Chemical engineers are responsible for the conception and design of processes for the purpose of production, transformation, and transportation of materials.
A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning.
The purpose of the master’s program is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for a professional career or doctoral studies.
The depth sequence of courses required for the major in chemical engineering provides training in applied chemical kinetics, biochemical engineering, electronic materials, engineering thermodynamics, plant design, polymers, process analysis and control, separation processes, and transport phenomena. Courses taken to fulfill the requirements for the major must be taken for a letter grade if this option is offered.

Minimum Combined GPA for all courses in Engineering Fundamentals and Depth is 2.0.
A research proposal/application must be submitted at least five quarters prior to graduation with work to begin at a minimum of four quarters prior to graduation.
Declared Chemical Engineering majors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher are encouraged to apply.
Maintain an overall grade point average of at least 3.5 as calculated on the unofficial transcript.
Credit toward the required minimum of 45 completed units for the M.S. degree is not given for Chemical Engineering special topics courses numbered in the 500 series.
Any course used to satisfy the 45-unit minimum for the Master of Science degree must be taken for a letter grade, if offered. An overall grade point average of 3.0 must be maintained for these courses.
Research units may not be substituted for any of the required four 300-level core lecture courses.
The GRE is not required for students applying for the Chemical Engineering coterminal master's degree.
Application to this program is open only to active chemical engineering M.S. or Ph.D. candidates.
A minimum of 90 completed units is required, including a component of a minimum of 45 units in science and engineering courses, consisting of 42 lecture units and 3 CHEMENG 699 Colloquium units.

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering University of California, Berkeley
While formal courses are necessary to provide scientific fundamentals and intellectual breadth, the primary characteristic of Berkeley graduate experience is to participate in the quest for new knowledge.
The PDP is a graduate-level degree program whose central aim is to fill the unmet need at national and international levels for graduates of chemical engineering and related disciplines who have knowledge and field experience in the complex process of transforming technical innovations into commercially successful products.
For students whose official language is not English, adequate proficiency in English to do graduate work, as evidenced by a TOEFL score of at least 90 on the iBT test, 570 on the paper-and-pencil test, or an IELTS Band score of at least 7 on a 9-point scale.
Applicants may only to one single degree program or one concurrent degree program per admission cycle.
Letters of recommendation: Applicants may request letters of recommendation through the application system. Hard copies of recommendation letters must be sent directly to the program, not the Graduate Division.
If applicants have previously been denied admission to Berkeley on the basis of their English language proficiency, they must submit new test scores that meet the current minimum from one of the standardized tests. Official TOEFL score reports must be sent directly from Educational Test Services Official IELTS score reports must be mailed directly to our office from British Council. TOEFL and IELTS score reports are only valid for two years.
Admission is granted by the University Graduate Division on the recommendation of the department. Applicants generally are required to provide the following: evidence of superior performance in the last two years of studies test scores for the aptitude portion of the Graduate Record Examination and three letters of recommendation from professors or colleagues familiar with the applicant academic and professional aptitudes. The weight of evidence from all sources determines admission. However, admission may be granted to students with degrees in a related discipline.
