While formal courses are necessary to provide scientific fundamentals and intellectual breadth, the primary characteristic of Berkeley's graduate experience is to participate in the quest for new knowledge.Professional Degree in Product Development ProgramThe PDP is a graduate-level degree program whose central aim is to fill the unmet need at national and international levels for graduates of chemical engineering and related disciplines who have knowledge and field experience in the complex process of transforming technical innovations into commercially successful products.A designated emphasis is a specialization, such as a new method of inquiry or an important field of application, which is relevant to two or more existing doctoral degree programs.A bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution; If the applicant comes from a country or political entity where English is not the official language, adequate proficiency in English to do graduate work, as evidenced by a TOEFL score of at least 90 on the iBT test, 570 on the paper-and-pencil test, or an IELTS Band score of at least 7 on a 9-point scale ; andApplicants Who Already Hold a Graduate DegreeThe Graduate Council views academic degrees not as vocational training certificates, but as evidence of broad training in research methods, independent study, and articulation of learning. Therefore, applicants who already have academic graduate degrees should be able to pursue new subject matter at an advanced level without need to enroll in a related or similar graduate program.Programs may consider students for an additional academic master’s or professional master’s degree only if the additional degree is in a distinctly different field.Applicants admitted to a doctoral program that requires a master’s degree to be earned at Berkeley as a prerequisite will be permitted to undertake the second master’s degree, despite the overlap in field.Applicants with doctoral degrees may be admitted for an additional doctoral degree only if that degree program is in a general area of knowledge distinctly different from the field in which they earned their original degree. For example, a physics PhD could be admitted to a doctoral degree program in music or history; however, a student with a doctoral degree in mathematics would not be permitted to add a PhD in statistics.Applicants who hold the PhD degree may be admitted to a professional doctorate or professional master’s degree program if there is no duplication of training involved.Applicants may apply only to one single degree program or one concurrent degree program per admission cycle.Transcripts: Applicants may upload unofficial transcripts with their application for the departmental initial review. If the applicant is admitted, then official transcripts of all college-level work will be required. If applicant have attended Berkeley, upload their unofficial transcript with their application for the departmental initial review. If applicant are admitted, an official transcript with evidence of degree conferral will not be required.Letters of recommendation: Applicants may request online letters of recommendation through the online application system. Hard copies of recommendation letters must be sent directly to the program, not the Graduate Division.Evidence of English language proficiency: All applicants from countries or political entities in which the official language is not English are required to submit official evidence of English language proficiency. However, applicants who, at the time of application, have already completed at least one year of full-time academic course work with grades of B or better at a US university may submit an official transcript from the US university to fulfill this requirement.Courses that will be completed after the application is submitted, andOfficial TOEFL score reports must be sent directly from Educational Test Services TOEFL and IELTS score reports are only valid for two years.Visit the Berkeley Graduate Division application page.Admission is granted by the University's Graduate Division on the recommendation of the department. College description: This tradition of excellence is combined with a passion to push the boundaries of chemical engineering as it pertains to energy solutions, clean water production, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical innovation, biological engineering, and the improvement of human health. With this history and infrastructure established, the university current and future graduate students have the ability to make significant marks during their time in either of the university two graduate-level programs. In this way, the university graduates continue to shape the future of chemical engineering and its related fields. Because of this fact, the Purdue University-Main Campus is consistently placed among the top chemical engineering programs in the nation, ranking in the top 10 programs at public universities in the United States, as determined by US News World Reports. Over, the Purdue University-Main Campus is always looking to recruit the next class of brilliant, enthusiastic, and dedicated postdoctoral researchers and students to lead the chemical engineering field for the upcoming decades.
As much as the university would like to offer pre-screening, regrettably the Purdue University-Main Campus does not have the resources to offer this service.Only the Verbal, Analytical, and Quantitative portions of the GRE are required for admission.October is the best time to take the GRE. Since the graduate committee starts reviewing applications in early January, it is in their best interest to submit their GRE scores before that time. However, the Graduate Committee will consider their application.

College description: The PhD represents the last formal stage of academic training for an engineer, and can lead to a variety of careers in industry, government, and academia. The university PhD program aims to teach students to conduct research, to develop the maturity of judgment necessary for critical, creative, and independent thinking, and to contribute to scientific and engineering knowledge in a particular area of scholarship. The conduct of this research, as well as the versatility expected of a productive member of the profession, requires a breadth of knowledge of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering fundamentals and their applications.Students are encouraged to take the initiative in seeking opportunities for formal and informal intellectual exploration beyond the guidelines imposed by the degree requirements. The aim of the course requirements is to develop a foundation of technical knowledge in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering science coreEight credits of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering electives are required. At least three credits of these must be at the 800-level the remainder may be at the 600 or 800-level and suitable courses taken outside Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering may be substituted. The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering electives may be started during the fall semester of the first year and are usually completed during the second year.
The Department also offers specialized graduate programs leading to the Master of Engineering degree in Particle Technology, a Graduate Certificate in Particle Technology, and a 4+1 Bachelor of Chemical Engineering/ME in Particle Technology degree. The purpose of the Department’s graduate programs is to provide the guidance and opportunity for students to develop the quantitative skills of engineering and science, and the acumen to apply these skills for the welfare of modern society. Students in the program naturally have a broad range of interests and career objectives, and it is the philosophy of the Department to expose them to a variety of fundamental and applied research problems that will hone those engineering skills necessary in any career, whether in industry, academia, or government.A baccalaureate degree in the field or in a closely allied field of science or mathematics.A minimum of three letters of strong support from former teachers or supervisors.A minimum combined score of 311 on the Graduate Record Examination Aptitude Test is required of all applicants to the Chemical Engineering PhD program. The Test of English as a Foreign Language is required for students whose first language is not English and who have not received a degree from a college or university in which English is the sole language of instruction. However, students and practicing industrialists with a background in chemistry will also profit from this graduate program, since chemical engineering provides for the application of their scientific skills to solutions of technological problems in industry and society. Graduates of other disciplines are also encouraged to apply; some remedial work may be required and is discussed on an individual basis. The Master’s degree and the Certificate may be earned on a part-time basis. All MEPT coursework can be completed remotely via distance learning.Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. In addition, international applicants must provide evidence of English proficiency if English is not their first language.
