PhD Programs: The GRE General Test is required of applicants for admission to the Economics doctoral program.
For PhD in Comparative Human Development applications with a Fall 2021 start, the GRE will be optional.
For PhD in Conceptual and Historial Studies of Science applications with a Fall 2021 start, the GRE will be optional.
For PhD in History applications with a Fall 2021 start, the GRE will not be required.

MAPSS, for example, does not require GRE scores for applicants in some disciplinary concentrations.
Where required, review committees expect strong scores across every section of the exam, and a high GRE score is an important component of a competitive application. GRE scores cannot be older than five years from the exam date.
If their application is reviewed without GRE scores, applicant will be unable to matriculate without official GRE scores on file.
The score level required for admission varies by program. Only the TOEFL iBT or IELTS Academic tests are accepted as proof of proficiency.
