The Statement of Purpose is the single most important item in the application. The applicant's statement should be approximately 2 pages in length.

The deadline to apply is January 4th. To apply, applicant must complete an on-line application and provide a candidate statement, writing sample, 3 recommendations and transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities in addition to the application fee. Here applicant may complete the application, taking as much time as applicant need, of course while keeping the January 4th deadline in mind. The TOEFL/IELTS is the only admissions requirement that applies specifically to international applicants. The University of Chicago does not require a minimum GRE score for admission nor do University of Chicago provides statistics on the GRE scores for admitted students. The university will accept GRE scores that are less than 5 years old. The University of Chicago does require that admitted applicants obtain a minimum score for the TOEFL prior to matriculation.

Applying for the Graduate Program in South Southeast Asian Studies
The university request that applicant include a writing sample with their application.
The sample may be a paper written for a class , an honors thesis, an article written for an academic journal — whatever applicant think best reflects their knowledge, interest, and writing ability.
While the university can accept letters of recommendation and GRE and TOEFL scores after the deadline for applications, please keep in mind that letters and scores arriving after January 7 may not be part of the application consideration process.
For Graduate Students
Statement on Workplace and Learning Environment
Read carefully the admissions requirements, application policies and deadline information posted there. All applicants must use the online application.
As a matter of fact, if applicant are considering the Ph.D. as their degree goal, applicant should specifically apply for admission to the Ph.D. program by checking the Ph.D. option on their application form.
The university recommend that applicant submit their application materials by 18 December for admission in the following fall term. The final deadline for admission with financial aid is 4 January. Late applications are accepted until 15 April, but there is no guarantee that financial aid will be available for students applying after the January deadline.

Non-Degree Students
Non-Degree Application - Submit their transcripts
The Case Western Reserve University is unable to deliver an admission letter without having their official transcripts on file from their highest degree earned.
Anyone wishing to take non-degree courses should apply through the online application system and pay the $50 non-refundable application fee. Applicant must send official transcripts in order for their application to be processed.
Case Western Reserve University employees do not need to submit degree verification and their application fee is waived.
The deadline to apply for Fall is August 15, for Spring is January 1 and for Summer is May 1.
