Masters programs in Entomology which do not require GRE

The Graduate School at Cornell is organized into “Training Fields,” that span college and department administrative units. Fields draw their graduate faculty from multiple disciplines and departments, so students have access to a diversity of scholarship in their respective areas of study. Every candidate for the M.S. degree in Entomology is expected to submit a thesis at the end of their degree program.

Graduate School

Students gain advanced knowledge of insect physiology insecticide toxicology ecology evolution behavior plant-insect interactions biological control integrated pest management chemical ecology molecular biology olfaction demography apiculture systematics arthropod-borne diseases of plants and animals and medical entomology. Students graduate with the qualitative and quantitative skills necessary for professional research and teaching in the integration of basic and applied aspects of insect sciences.

The Entomology M.S. program provides diverse opportunities for the selection of a thesis question and composition a thesis advisory committee. Students in the Entomology M.S. Program are required to complete 24 credits of coursework, including two core courses and three graduate topic seminars. Students in the M.S. program are required to present their final thesis research to the department in a public seminar, such as the Entomology Colloquium Series.

Graduates with non-science degrees are encouraged to apply but, if accepted, may be required to remedy deficiencies early in their program.

International students must submit scores from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language or the International English Language Testing Service

Graduate Record Examination Scores are NOT required and will not be evaluated if submitted. However, in cases where application material is incomplete, ambiguous, or inconsistent, the admission committee may request GRE scores from applicants.

Applicants must pay a non-refundable $75 application fee for each program to which they applies.

Transcript: At the application stage, these can be unofficial copies, but admission to the University of Maryland requires the submission of official transcripts.

Admission Details

The Graduate Division requires the TOEFL or IELTS tests from applicants who are not native speakers of English.

However, admitted students are required to submit official scores in order to enroll at UHM. Official GRE scores must be sent directly to Graduate Division Student Services.

Worked in the program specific profession for 5+ years. All graduate school applicants must possess the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor degree. An official academic record from all post-secondary education institutions attended is required. This may take some time so start this early in your application process.

For applicants for whom English is a second language,a TOEFL score of at least 600 TOEFL is required of all applicants for whom English is a second language.
