Civil and Environmental Engineering University of California, Berkeley
Students whose official language is not English, adequate proficiency in English to do graduate work, as evidenced by a TOEFL score of at least 90 on the iBT test, 570 on the paper-and-pencil test, or an IELTS Band score of at least 7 on a 9-point scale and.
Applicants may only to one single degree program or one concurrent degree program per admission cycle.
Letters of recommendation: Applicants may request letters of recommendation through the application system. Hard copies of recommendation letters must be sent directly to the program, not the Graduate Division.
If applicants have previously been denied admission to Berkeley on the basis of their English language proficiency, they must submit new test scores that meet the current minimum from one of the standardized tests. If you are pursuing a PhD, a Master’s of Science degree from an accredited university and a minimum GPA of 3.5, OR MS degree and add the PhD during the first year of the MS program. Direct to PhD admissions is approved on an exception basis.

Transportation Engineering requires strong analytical and quantitative preparation, but an engineering degree is not necessary. Applicants must be fluent with quantitative concepts of the above courses.

ENVS 583: Spatial Analysis in Disease Ecology Cross-listed course with EH 583This course explores patterns of health and disease in place and time, application of geospatial technologies and methods for epidemiology, analysis of time-space relations, clusters and diffusion of disease, and geographical epidemiology of selected infectious and noninfectious diseases.
ENVS 590: Graduate Seminar in Environmental Science and Policy This seminar course is required for all students in the program. Graduate student standing will be the required, but no prerequisite courses.
