Human Medical Genetics and Genomics Graduate Program

College description: For the second year, the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), part of the National Institutes of Health, has selected the top tier of early career researchers with its 2020 Genomic Innovator Awards. This year, the award went to 12 researchers around the U.S., with two from the University of Colorado Denver. Audrey Hendricks, PhD, and Katrina Claw, PhD, received over $1.5 million respectively over the next five years to pursue their research. Unlike traditional grants, the Genomic Innovator Awards invests in the researchers themselves, instead of a particular research project.

The recruitment, retention, and support of students from underrepresented backgrounds is central to the Graduate School's mission. The university strive to develop and promote efforts to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion campus-wide. Application fee waivers are offered to eligible applicants.

Although there are no formal undergraduate course requirements, students with a solid undergraduate foundation in mathematics and biological and chemical sciences have performed best in the Program. It is suggested that applicants have completed courses in biology, chemistry (general and organic), physics, genetics, calculus, and statistics before entering the Program.

The GRE General Test and Subject Test are not required for application to HMGGP but will be considered if submitted.

Applications will open on SEPTEMBER 1st and deadline is DECEMBER 1st.

A $50.00 domestic and $75.00 international non-refundable application fee. No application will be processed unless this fee is paid.
