Doctoral students have considerable flexibility in tailoring their studies to special interests and career goals.According to HDFS Department records, University of North Carolina at Greensboro has a 100% job placement rate in an HDFS related field for Ph.D program graduates and 93% job placement rate in a related field for MS-thesis graduates. Records are not as complete for online graduates of the BK:ILP, BK:ISED, and LECE programs, but indications are that graduates are very successful in finding jobs in those fields as well.

College description: This model of graduate training involves students working closely with their advisors right from the start to develop programs of study that are customized to their individual backgrounds, professional interests, and training goals.Graduate assistantships offered by the Department. These half-time positions normally require 10 hours toward teaching duties and 10 hours toward thesis research each week, with the balance of the GA time spent on their studies, which may include additional time for research as the coursework requirements are completed.In addition to fellowships available from inside Penn State, students and their advisors may apply for fellowships from external sources such as foundations and government agencies.Both the Ph.D. and the M.S. programs require a thesis , but Ph.D. thesis research has a much greater depth and scope.The mission of the graduate program in Kinesiology at Penn State emphasizes doctoral training.
