No GRE/GMAT Masters Program in Information Technology

The Master of Computer and Information Technology (MCIT) program at the University of Pennsylvania is for talented students without any prior computer science experience who can start a highly successful career in computing and technology. The Washington University Information Technology organization is born of the unification of three University technology organizations coming together to better serve the technology needs of University end users.

In December 2014, University leadership announced the Shared IT Services Program to transform information technology at Washington University, creating an IT environment to advance the university’s academic, research and clinical missions. A major milestone of this program was to unify the Information Services and Technology organization (IT service provider to the central fiscal unit), the Central Information Technology Services organization (IT service provider to the School of Medicine central administration) and the Medicine IT organization into one organization—the Washington University Information Technology organization (WashU IT). The new, unified organization is charged with delivering integrated, customer-focused IT services to all University schools and departments.

The Washington University Information Technology organization is under the direction of the Office of the Chief Information Officer, guided by Interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer Ed Welker. Welker directs the development and advancement of IT services provided by the new organization.

MS in Information Systems at Cornell University introduces students to the fundamental business, human, and technical aspects of the intersection of information and technology. Students participate in significant R&D projects with tech companies in New York City and receive training in innovation management and entrepreneurship.

In addition to focusing on computer science and engineering, the program also incorporates elements of business, entrepreneurship, sociology, psychology, and design. The curriculum offers outstanding preparation for a wide range of professions that demand a deep comprehension of the human dimensions of technology and can be found in academia, business, or government. The program can be completed in two years.

MS in Information and Knowledge Strategy program is offered at Columbia University. The multidisciplinary curriculum, which is based in the field of knowledge management gives students practical skills in project management and executive leadership along with a solid grounding in organizational psychology, information science, and change management. This enables them to make a significant impact in their current organization or to pursue a career change.

It is a 36-credit program. The curriculum is adaptable, intended for working professionals who are changing careers, and offers a large number of elective courses from which students can choose to specialize in various graduate programs offered by Columbia University.

They can customize their Ivy League experience with the electives to meet their own academic interests and professional goals.

Master of Applied Geospatial Information Systems and Technologies is offered at the University of California-Los Angeles. It is a professional STEM graduate degree program that is entirely online and focuses on teaching students how to use location data and GIS to solve problems.

The 36-credit program offers courses that give academic rigor to subjects needed for GIS professionals in government and nonprofit organizations, as well as business, engineering, planning, and data and information management. The MAGIST curriculum prepares students for professional success in specialized and highly skilled professions within the GIS and geospatial technology industries by emphasizing computer programming techniques and spatial data processing.

The MS in Information Management (MSIM) requires 40 credit hours of coursework and can be completed on campus in 18-24 months. However, in order to take full advantage of the rich curriculum and professional development opportunities offered by the program, students may choose a longer timeframe for degree completion.

The Master of Science in Information Systems Technology program at George Washington University is intended for information systems technology professionals who are currently employed and want to change careers. Students learn how to blend information systems technological competence and management abilities to effectively implement business solutions through dynamic, hands-on laboratory and classroom-based courses.

It is a 33-credit program comprising 12 credits of elective courses and 21 credits of core courses. Furthermore, students need to finish up to six credits of required foundation courses in database architecture and applications, computer programming languages, and these subjects. 

Both full-time and part-time education are options for degree completion for students. Classes are available online and at GW's Foggy Bottom Campus during the day, night, and weekend. There is a hybrid format that combines online and on-campus learning opportunities. The average full-time student will need 18 to 24 months to finish their degree requirements. Students enrolled part-time usually finish the course of study in 24 to 36 months.

MS in Information Systems is offered at Saint Louis University. Students learn to become information systems professionals by acquiring the software development, analytics, evidence-based decision-making, ethics, and leadership abilities necessary to offer technical knowledge and strategic decision-making. 

It is a 33-credit program. Students uncover how to combine technology, people, and organizational structures to uncover, manage, and disseminate industry-critical knowledge while gaining knowledge from a global network of different peers.

The MS in Information Technology program is offered at Loyola University. Professionals who are now employed or aspire to be employed in a range of businesses who are responsible for designing, implementing, running, and overseeing information systems are the target audience for the MS in Information Technology. Students enrolled in this program will graduate with a strong foundation in net-centric computing, a deep technical grasp of current and new technologies in the industry, and a familiarity with systems engineering ideas.

It is a 30-credit program. Additionally, they will be well-versed in the present and potential consequences of the convergence of the media, information technology, and telecommunications industries. Students can obtain experience in networks, data management, software development, design, and other IT-related fields through internships.

Because of its focus on teaching students how to address information technology problems using a suite of quantitative and technological tools, the program has been awarded a STEM designation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Employers are actively seeking individuals with degrees labeled as STEM-related due to a countrywide lack of workers with training in STEM-related industries.
