No GRE/GMAT Masters Program in Information Technology

A Master's in Information Technology (IT) is a higher-level degree that helps you learn more about computer technology and how to use it. In this program, you study things like how to make software, keep computer networks safe, manage databases, and handle IT projects. It's about learning to solve tough computer problems and keep up with new tech changes.

Some schools now offer these IT Master's programs without needing the GRE test. This is because they're starting to focus more on what you've done and what you know, instead of just test scores. Different schools have different rules for admission, so it's good to check what each school needs if you're interested in joining their program.

The Master of Computer and Information Technology (MCIT) program at the University of Pennsylvania is for talented students without any prior computer science experience who can start a highly successful career in computing and technology. These students often land highly sought-after interdisciplinary roles or even purely technical software development positions.

The 30-credit MCIT program was founded on the idea that individuals with undergraduate degrees in a variety of other professions might achieve great success in their careers by taking advanced computer science courses. The careers of the graduates today provide compelling evidence for this viewpoint. Graduates of MCIT programs may also choose to pursue additional advanced studies in computer science inside the academic setting.

Students majoring in Master of Science in Engineering in Computer & Information (CIS/MSE) at MCIT may apply to continue in the program. In order to pursue this dual degree option, students must meet certain prerequisites, including having completed most of the MCIT requirements, earning a high mark in at least one CIS elective, and having a minimum GPA.

The Washington University Information Technology organization is born of the unification of three University technology organizations coming together to better serve the technology needs of University end users.

In December 2014, University leadership announced the Shared IT Services Program to transform information technology at Washington University, creating an IT environment to advance the university’s academic, research and clinical missions. A major milestone of this program was to unify the Information Services and Technology organization (IT service provider to the central fiscal unit), the Central Information Technology Services organization (IT service provider to the School of Medicine central administration) and the Medicine IT organization into one organization—the Washington University Information Technology organization (WashU IT). The new, unified organization is charged with delivering integrated, customer-focused IT services to all University schools and departments.

The Washington University Information Technology organization is under the direction of the Office of the Chief Information Officer, guided by Interim Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer Ed Welker. Welker directs the development and advancement of IT services provided by the new organization.

Understanding that technology is vital to the way we operate—from enabling our students, doctors and researchers to acquire and share knowledge to facilitating basic administration and operations tasks for staff—we work to develop and maintain integrated, responsive digital environments suited for learning, research, innovation and world-class patient care. As technology evolves and the adoption of new technologies increases exponentially—with each incoming freshman class, each advancement in healthcare innovation, each research grant requirement, each new learning model—we strive to develop new ways to support our end-users. Each day, we work to leverage new technologies to position Washington University for the future.
