Completed applications are reviewed by the division-specific admissions committee, each of which is comprised of three graduate faculty members within their respective division. Newly admitted master’s students are assigned an initial/temporary faculty advisor; the student is free to change advisors after the first semester in the program. All Masters applicants are considered Non-Thesis M.S. students, unless the applicant submits a written request to do a thesis. A Research Member of the HLKN Graduate Faculty must individually accept a MS-thesis applicant as his/her advisee for the student to be accepted into the program.

Admissions into an HLKN (Health & Kinesiology) Master’s program is based on:
1. The applicant’s academic record – including an undergraduate grade point ratio (GPR) in the last 60 semester hours
2. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (not required for M.S. in sport management or M.S. in health education programs at this time)
3. Relevant experience as shown on resume or CV
4. Foreign students whose native language is not English must havea score of at least 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination for Foreign Students whose native language is not English. (see International Admissions for full details)
5. Students desiring to complete a thesis must submit written request to do so in the essay
6. Personal statement of purpose essay
7. Three letters of reference
Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies
The students must complete your application online through the university’s Graduate Admissions website. There is a $60 application fee for new applicants and a $30 fee for students who were previously enrolled as graduate students at UT. The following materials are required as part of the online application:
Unofficial academic transcripts: Unofficial academic transcripts from every undergraduate institution you have attended are required. International students should submit official or attested university records with certified translations if the records are not in English, along with degree confirmation.
GRE scores: Scores are required for the biomechanics and exercise physiology concentrations. You must have taken the GRE within five years of application data.
**GRE scores are NOT required for sport psychology and motor behavior.**
Supplemental application questions: As part of the online application, these questions are department specific and will be reviewed carefully by the admissions committees. The departmental assistantship application is included in this section. If you want to be considered for a teaching assistantship in our Physical Education Activity Program (PEAP), you must answer all questions. If you do not want to be considered for our departmental assistantships, you can skip these questions. PLEASE NOTE: completion of these questions does NOT guarantee an assistantship, as only about 10 percent of master’s students will receive an assistantship from our department.
Resume: A current resume is required as part of the application process.
Three ratings forms: Three ratings forms may be submitted with or without letters of recommendation. The process of these forms being sent to and submitted by your recommenders is completed entirely online. Two forms should be completed by academic references, and the third can be completed by a professional reference. All three ratings forms and/or letters of recommendation MUST be received before your application will be considered complete and reviewed by the admissions committee.
International student requirements: Applicants whose native language is not English are required to take and pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Official scores must be received directly from the appropriate testing service. UT’s score reporting code for TOEFL is 1843. The score must not be older than two years from the requested date of entry. Applicants who have a degree from an accredited US institution in the past two years are exempt from the TOEFL or IELTS requirement.

College of Public Health
Each graduate program in the College of Public Health has a unique application process.
Application: Students must apply through the SOPHAS Centralized Application Service.
Goals Statement: Write a well-considered 500-to 1,000-word statement of purpose that articulates their interests in public health and the university program in particular.
A current résumé or CV is required.
Check on their application status and the receipt of their materials through the SOPHAS portal.
TOEFL: For applicants whose native language is not English, the TOEFL is required with a minimum score of 79 on the iBT.
Downtime will seriously impact their ability to complete required class activities and assignments.
A solid state drive is not required, but SSDs offer significant performance improvements and stability.
A touchscreen is not required, but may be used.
To be considered for admission to the MS in Athletic Training program, applicant should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Application: Students will apply using Athletic Training Centralized Application Service system.
Goals Statement: Submit a thoughtful, clear statement of goals of one to two pages in length.
Interview: Once all of the required application materials are received, students may be invited to participate in an interview.
GRE scores are recommended, though not required.

A waiver of the GRE may be considered for domestic applicants based on academic history and/or 3-5 years of relevant work experience in the field of healthcare informatics.

TOEFL: For applicants whose native language is not English, the TOEFL or IELTS exam is required with the following minimum scores: 79 on the internet-based TOEFL or a 6.5 on the academic version of the IELTS.

Goals statement: This should reflect their aptitude for rigorous graduate study and practice in occupational therapy, including the mental flexibility, teamwork and service to others required for success.
GRE or MAT score: their score should be in the top 50th percentile.
Hours may be in progress or planned during application, however completion prior to application is suggested.
Additional: To start their required clinical/fieldwork placement, applicant’ll need to pass clearances including criminal background checks, drug screenings and DHS fingerprinting.
At the time of application submission, prerequisites may be in progress or pending, but must be completed prior to the university deadline, February 1st.
To apply to the online MS in Recreational Therapy program, applicant should have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Goals statement: Write a 500- to 1,000-word essay describing their background, interests, accomplishments and career goals.
A GRE or MAT score is required.
A current professional résumé is required for admission.
To begin their required clinical/fieldwork placement, applicant’ll need to pass clearances that may include criminal background checks and drug screenings.

Applicants must have completed their BSW from a Council on Social Work Education -accredited program within the past five years and have a minimum 3.25 GPA, both overall and in their major.

To apply for the MA in Speech, Language and Hearing Science, applicant must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

GRE scores are only required if their master’s GPA is lower than 3.0. If needed, their score should be in the top 50th percentile on both the verbal and the quantitative sections.

The university examine each application thoroughly, looking for key elements of emerging healthcare providers and leaders, including academic aptitude, determination, empathy, motivation, perseverance, professionalism, responsibility and self-reflection.
Applications: Students must through the Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service for the DPT program.
The Temple University does not have a minimum for GRE scores but recommend that applicants attempt to earn scores close to the average for admitted students.
Essay: The essay is required within PTCAS application about their perspective on the profession of physical therapy
Volunteer/observational work in the field is not required although highly recommended
Applicants must complete all their required elements by the deadline specified by PTCAS.

Master of Science in Kinesiology
Students can complete the 36 credit hours required to receive the degree in 12 months.
Applicant may be able to find savings and earn credit from previous work or training, or as demonstrated by their industry certifications, through Prior Learning Assessment.

Upon completion, students are required to follow a 12-unit concentration in either exercise science, sport performance, or sport management.

The M.S. in Kinesiology offers a rolling admission policy, and accepts students for the fall (September), spring (January) or summer (May) semesters. Students may begin the program in any semester or term.
There are no prerequisites for the sport management concentration; however, the physical education concentration requires a minimum of 12 semester units of study in kinesiology including a basic movement anatomy or related course completed with a "C" or better. The Exercise Science concentration requires courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics or the equivalent.
Candidates must have a minimum 2.75 GPA for unconditional admission (**no GRE required**). Applicants with a GPA below 2.75 may be considered for admission with the presentation of a minimum combined score of 1000 on the verbal and quantitative sections of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or a passing score on the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET).

M.S. in Exercise and Nutrition Science
Students are admitted on a rolling basis for the M.S. in Exercise and Nutrition Science program, meaning that an application is sent for review after all documents have been submitted.
Once their application is complete, students can expect a decision within three to four weeks.

There is a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement. However, the average GPA is 3.5.
But applicant must submit a TOEFL/IELTS score if applying from a non-English-speaking country.
Kinesiology and Exercise Science
Applicants will have required documentation such as official transcripts, letters of recommendation and other materials to supply in order to complete their application.
In addition to the online application, for the masters programs students must submit an objective statement, all academic transcripts, and two letters of recommendation.
For Doctoral programs, students can either take the GRE or the Millers Analogies Test.
At the masters level, Concordia University Chicago does not require a GRE score for admission.
Students may be placed on Pending Status until all required documentation has been received and may attend classes for one semester.
