Admission to SLIS
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.For applicants whose native language is not English and who do not hold a degree from a the students.S. college or university, a score of 550 or higher on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language or the International English Language Testing SystemGRE score is no longer a requirement.Upload required supplemental documents through the secure MyUI portal.Unofficial transcripts showing their baccalaureate degree are part of the Graduate Application requirement and need to be submitted at the time of their Graduate College application. Official transcripts are required upon admission to the program.Please submit a personal statement of 500-750 words about what motivates applicant to pursue education and a career in library and information science.As part of the Resume/CV, applicants are encouraged to reflect on any relevant employment and how it contributes to their educational and professional goals as identified in their Statement of Purpose, as well as their overall interest in SLIS at The University of Iowa.Their three letters of recommendation should come from people who can assess the scope and quality of their past academic or professional work.
