Master of Physician Assistant Medicine Degree Admissions

College description: Physician assistants (PA) are nationally certified and licensed medical professionals who work on health care teams with physicians and other providers. The PA profession has been named by top media outlets, including Forbes and USA Today, as one of the most promising jobs in America.

The admission process is highly selective. Applicants are considered for an interview if they meet the minimum GPA requirements (3.0 prerequisite and 3.0 last 60 credit hours GPA).

1. Timeline:(i)ASPA application opens April 25, 2019, and closes Sept. 1, 2019.

(ii)Completed applications are due Sept. 1 and must be verified by Oct. 1. We highly encourage interested applicants to apply early to ensure faculty review.

(iii)A supplemental application is required. There is no supplemental application fee. The supplemental application questions are included in the CASPA application.

2. Letters of Reference:

(i)Submit three letters of recommendation from faculty, coaches, employers, patients or health care providers with whom the applicant has a shadow or work history. The program will only evaluate the first three letters submitted if you submit more than three letters with your application.

(ii)Letters from a PA or physician are not required.

(iii)No letters from immediate family members or friends will be accepted.

(i)Minimum last 60 credit hours GPA: 3.0

(ii)Minimum prerequisite GPA: 3.0

4. GRE/MCAT:

(i)The GRE is not required for application or admission.

(ii)The MCAT is not required for application.

5. Degree Requirements:

(i)A completed bachelor’s degree by July 1 of the entering year from a regionally accredited institution.

(ii)To be considered for the graduate degree preference, the graduate degree must be awarded by Oct.1.

6. TOEFL/IELTS:

(i)Official TOEFL or IELTS scores will be required of all applicants who have not earned a baccalaureate degree or graduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the U.S., Commonwealth Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Australia or New Zealand.

(ii)Official and valid TOEFL or IELTS scores must be submitted and received by the application deadline.

(iii)TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for two years prior to the application deadline.

(iv)The minimum score is a 90 on the TOEFL and a 6.5 on the IELTS, and may not be waived.

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required, but applicants can elect to submit their scores at the time of testing. If you have previously taken the GRE and would like to submit your scores. Scores are valid for 5 years per ETS website.

We use CASPA calculated GPAs, specifically the Overall Total GPA and Overall Science GPA. We will not recalculate GPAs for admissions purposes. It is therefore very important that all grades have posted and appear on your transcript prior to submitting your application. All applicants who are offered a seat in the class will have their GPAs verified prior to matriculation to ensure that any non-prerequisite, in progress courses, maintained a GPA, in both overall total and overall science calculations, above the required 3.0.

The minimum allowable grade for prerequisite courses is a C-. Prerequisite courses may also be met with pass/fail courses.

Two letters of recommendation are required for this program

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for international students. The TOEFL cut off score is 100. TOEFL scores are valid for two years after the test date per ETS website. IELTS scores can be substituted for the TOEFL exam with a cut off score of 7.0.
