Our graduate students have been awarded fellowships from the Provost and Society for the Humanities at Cornell, the Ford Foundation, as well as Tinker, Manon-Sicca, and FLAC grants. Taking advantage of the numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary study and research available throughout the university, graduate students are encouraged to develop their own individual interests and disciplinary orientations in an open and ongoing dialogue with members of the Department and the Graduate Field of Romance Studies.
Admission Details
The deadline to apply is January 15, 2023.
All incoming students are required to take the Romance Studies Colloquium during their first semester in the program.
Student are not required to complete a specific number of courses in their declared minor field, but it must be represented by one member of their special committee.
Admission to the program is competitive and based on an evaluation of the entire dossier of material submitted by the student, including a personal statement, three letters of recommendation, writing sample, transcripts and, if pertinent, TOEFL scores. The GRE exam is not required.

Admission Details
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Completing an application for the program will allow applicant to be considered for financial support. Note the Dual degree applicants must also follow all departmental-level application instructions for the other program.
A personal statement in Spanish: The statement should include their motivation for applying to graduate school, why applicant see yourself as qualified for admission to this program, what applicant hope to achieve in their area of interest, and their aspirations following the receipt of the graduate degree.
Applicant will only be asked to submit 2 letters of recommendation
Also, applicant will not be charged a second application fee.
