Strong applicants holding degrees from fields outside art history will be considered.Applicant must have a master’s degree to apply to the university PhD program.Content is more important than length, although typically the statement is one or two single-spaced pages.There are no minimum GRE scores required for admission to the graduate program in Art History. The admissions committee takes a holistic approach to its evaluation of applicants; the GRE score is only one part of a much larger picture. It is probably fair to say that a very strong application is rarely disqualified by less-than-stellar performance on the GRE.

Student Academic Appointments are a primary source of funding for many M.F.A. students, and they make graduate students an integral part of the university’s teaching and research missions.Graduate assistantships can offer invaluable professional development that would not otherwise be part of a student’s course of study.
