Northwestern University’s Doctor of Audiology program utilizes the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS) to process applications to the program. Applications may be submitted beginning October 1 and the deadline for applications is January 15.
1. The AuD program at Northwestern is a 3-year, accelerated program.
2. The academic calendar is built upon four (4) ten-week quarters (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). Because coursework in the program is sequential in nature, all students must enter the program in the fall.
4. A minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
5. The average GPA for admitted students is 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.
6. We require the verbal, quantitative, and analytical scores of the Graduate Record Examination for admission. There is no minimum GRE required. The average combined verbal and quantitative score for admitted students is 314.
7. In addition to GPA and GRE scores, we require applicants to submit letters of recommendation from individuals who can assess a candidate’s ability to be successful in graduate studies.

The CMS part of the course is restricted to Communication Studies graduate students. The Business School portion is restricted to Business graduate students. In addition to addressing undesired features of interpersonal relationships, this course will also cover seemingly productive communication patterns that are actually dysfunctional as well as seemingly destructive patterns that are actually functional.
GRE Information
Prospective students should take the GRE general test. We will use the highest of your combined (verbal and quantitative) scores. If you do not think your GRE score is good, we recommend that you still apply and consider taking the GRE again. Taking the GRE again will not hurt your chances. Your scores must be in the system by the time the admissions committee begins reviewing applications (typically the beginning of January). The School of Journalism does not waive the GRE requirement. The GRE must have been taken within the last 5 years. There is no minimum GRE score; however, applicants recently accepted to the program had scores, on average, in the 70th percentile for master's students and 74th percentile for PhD students.
TOEFL Information
International students whose first language is not English must submit TOEFL scores. The School of Journalism does not waive the TOEFL. TOEFL scores are valid for up to two years. Admitted students whose first language is not English may be evaluated upon their entry into the graduate program for written and oral fluency. The graduate advisor will require students who need additional English-language facility to enroll in such coursework in the first semester.
The School of Journalism prefers that you have at least a 600 (paper test), 250 (computer-based test), or 85 (Internet-based test). The School of Journalism will make final admission decisions based on all application materials, including test scores. In this competitive field, however, TOEFL scores are seriously evaluated. Recent applicants had an average TOEFL score of 105.
