Engineering Sciences Applied Mathematics
The application and all materials must be submitted by this date to be given full consideration.
Successful applicants typically have good grades in relevant mathematics courses, good GRE quantitative scores, and strong letters of recommendation.

There is only one application for admission and fellowships.
General GRE scores

Admissions is based on all aspects of the application, not just GRE scores. While there is no minimum requirement for the GRE, admitted applicants generally score in the high percentiles especially on the quantitative section of the exam.
The University of California-Berkeley does not require the Math subject test but if the scores are available applicant may submit it as part of their application.

Academic Statement of Purpose

Mathematics majors with excellent grades in mathematics courses, outstanding GRE scores in the mathematics subject test, and excellent letters of recommendation.
Such students are expected to have completed at least two upper division mathematics courses, and/or have substantial exposure to mathematics in other courses, and are strongly advised to submit a GRE subject test score for an exam in the major field Other experience in working with mathematics will also be taken into account, as well as grade point average and letters of recommendation.
Based on historical data, the university expect that successful applicants to the Ph.D. program will have an overall GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

The application fee is $50.00 and is nonrefundable.
The application fee cannot be waived for any reason.
The fee is considered part of the application. Their application will be considered incomplete if the fee is not received. Their application will not be reviewed unless it is complete.

This program combines theory and application.
There is no specific minimum GRE score for admission into the M.S. and PhD programs. All aspects of the graduate application, including GRE scores and GPA, are evaluated as a whole.
