One Year Online Masters in Mechanical Engineering

The Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering program is a master's degree program with a focus on professional development that offers enhanced knowledge and experiential possibilities beyond those of a mechanical engineering bachelor's degree. As long as the degree criteria are satisfied, the M.Eng.ME program is completely adaptable to suit an individual's interests and is coursework-based and industry-oriented. The M.Eng.ME program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign can be finished in just one year of full-time study. Online students have up to five years to finish the degree; many of them are full-time workers. The prerequisites for the degree and the degree itself are the same whether you choose to enroll in the totally online program or the on-campus program.

By default, all students are admitted as thesis-option students.Under thesis option 24 credit hours of formal, graded, graduate-level coursework is required.If they want to pursue the non-thesis MS, then they must submit the Departmental “Non-Thesis” Petition to request to switch to the non-thesis option. Under non-thesis program 32 credit hours of formal, graded, graduate-level coursework is required.

A non-refundable application fee must be paid online with a credit card or electronic check if you have a U.S. bank account. The application fee is $75 for U.S. applicants and $85 for international applicants.

The admissions criteria applied in evaluating international applicants are essentially the same as those for U.S. citizens. All application materials, including transcripts and recommendations, must be submitted online and in English.

International and domestic candidates that have relocated to the state of Georgia for purposes of full-time employment, as well as their spouses, may qualify for a waiver of the non-Georgia resident portion of tuition through the Economic Advantage Program.

All applicants to the program must hold a U.S. bachelor degree or equivalent to be considered for admission. A three-year degree is not equivalent to the U.S. bachelor degree. Neither professional designations nor work experience will count toward the fourth year of study.

The M.Eng.ME program is coursework-based, industry-oriented, and offers three tracks of study around which students may choose to design their curriculum: Design, Energy, and Controls Manufacturing. Students also have the flexibility to create their own program by combining the courses recommended from any of the three existing tracks or other courses outside the tracks.

Students applying to the M.Eng.ME Online program are expected to have a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or in a related field. The M.Eng.ME degree is a self-funded program where students are responsible for paying their tuition and fees. Students in this program are not eligible for Board of Trustee (BOT) tuition-waiver-generating assistantships at the University of Illinois.

The Engineering Technology offers a Master of Engineering Technology degree program. Within the program, students may choose to have no emphasis or may select from five different emphasis areas. This program offers a professional multi-disciplinary team and project-oriented approach to students looking to expand their knowledge in a specific technical specialty. This degree is intended to be a terminal professional degree (highest degree in the field). The program consists of credit hours.

Total tuition $12,342 Cost per credit hour and total tuition is based on 2022-2023 academic year tuition rates master program option, and assuming all coursework is completed online in the 2022-2023 academic year. Cost per credit hour and total tuition will vary if studies span over one or academic year.

Option I: Thesis This option is designed to prepare students for a doctoral program, for advanced professional careers, or for students wanting to complete an in-depth research experience.

Option III: Course Work This option requires completion of course work that demonstrates evidence of advanced course work in an area of concentration. Departments will require evidence of competency through activities such as research papers, portfolios, practice, internships, comprehensive exams or other individual work. Students should check with their major department for specific requirements for the coursework.

Options for Recording Lectures for Engineering Online Courses.

It is a 30 credit hour degree program that does not require a thesis, final oral exam or on-campus residency.

General Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores are not required for admission.

The Graduate School requires that all international applicants take the TOEFL or IELS examination if they have not received a degree from a U.S. institution or completed one year of study in the United States. Find out the admission requirements.

Completion of 30 credit hours of graduate level courses at the 500 or 700 level with an overall grade-point average of 3.0.

Completion of a minimum of six MAE courses.

Project Work in Aerospace Mechanical Engineering.

The remaining three courses may consist of any department approved graduate-level engineering or mathematics course offered through Engineering Online (such as MA 501 or MA 502).

MSME distance education students are permitted to take and attend courses on campus. All requirements for the degree must be completed within six years of enrolling in the first course appearing on the NC State graduate transcript. It is preferable to seek admission to the MSME program as soon as possible to assure integration into the advising process. However, a person does not have to be admitted to a degree program to enroll in an online credit course. Prior to applying to Graduate School, a qualified individual may enroll in Engineering Online courses as a Non-Degree Studies (NDS) student. The NDS classification is designed for individuals who wish to undertake academic work but who are not currently admitted to a degree program. If the student is admitted to the MSME program, a maximum of twelve hours taken as an NDS student or from another institution may apply toward the 30 credit hour requirement. Students register for online courses through Engineering Online. Those who wish to take only a few courses and not pursue a degree do not need to apply for formal program admission to NC State University. However, students who wish to earn the MSME degree must formally apply for admission to the Graduate School. version of the degree.

Full-time employed individuals may only enroll in two online courses per semester. It is highly recommended that new students enroll in only one course during their first semester.
