Art Studies Online Masters programs at Converse College
Converse’s online MEd in Art Education is the first art education program of its kind in South Carolina. The online MEd in Art Education consists of 36 hours and includes courses focused on the content of art, art history, and art education to promote skill as an artist-researcher-teacher, along with coursework in areas of gifted education, special education, and professional education. ART 503 History and Philosophy of Art Education (3 hrs).
Master of Education – Art Education
Converse’s online MEd in Art Education is the first art education program of its kind in South Carolina.
The online MEd in Art Education consists of 36 hours and includes courses focused on the content of art, art history, and art education to promote skill as an artist-researcher-teacher, along with coursework in areas of gifted education, special education, and professional education. Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
The unique online format is a hybrid with four semesters of online coursework and two summer residencies on the university Spartanburg campus.
For full, non-provisional admission, the applicant must have an overall cumulative 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale of college work

Master of Arts in Teaching, Special Education Certification – Online
If applicant do not currently hold teacher certification or hold a nonrenewable teacher certification, the Master of Arts in Teaching was designed for applicant. An exception is made for the online M.A.T. Concentration in Special Education; their placement will be considered in the region in which applicant live.
Upon successful completion of all the M.A.T. program requirements, applicant will be eligible for their T-5 certification and Master’s degree.
Present a total adjusted GPA of 2.75 or higher on all teaching field course work.
Submit passing scores on the GACE Program Admission Assessment or be exempt by acceptable SAT, ACT, or GRE scores.
Submit a personal statement of purpose, not to exceed 200 words, that identifies the applicant’s reasons for pursuing graduate study and how admission into the program relates to the applicant’s professional aspirations.
If all required documents are not received by the deadline their application will not be considered for admission.
