Individuals from cultural, racial, linguistic, geographic and socioeconomic backgrounds that are currently underrepresented in graduate education are especially encouraged to participate in the program. I entered Columbia University in 2014 under the Questbridge scholarship, which provides full financial aid to low income students, studying physics with a concentration in mathematics. Consequently, I have won several awards such as engineering scholarships, ECE Outstanding Student Award, and the 2018 Engineering Achievement Award in recognition of my research findings and my contributions to the community.

ED202 Curriculum Instruction Learning Theory OR ED301 Cultural Linguistic Diversity in Teaching (Single Subject only, B or better). Credential program candidates may be eligible for state and federal financial aid programs. In addition, TMU has two scholarships designated for the Credential Programs. The Gertrude Corcoran Endowment and the Shamrock Foundation Grant are program-specific scholarships established to help qualified candidates complete a credential program at The Master’s University. Gain knowledge in sociolinguistics, cross-cultural competency, cultural diversity and language acquisition and learn to make important connections between linguistic theory and classroom practice—and improve retention of the English language. Students enrolled solely in the non-degree endorsement program are not eligible to receive federal aid. This linguistic and cultural background variety across public school systems has led to a growing need for teachers with specialized training who are qualified to teach English as a second language (ESL). Unfortunately, federal aid is not available to students enrolled solely in the endorsement program. The typical award for a two-year computational linguistics master students is approximately $20,000 per academic year. Students enrolled in the BA MS program are considered students in their senior year, thus they receive aid from the financial aid office. In the fifth year, the Brandeis Alumni Scholarship ($10,500 scholarship) is granted. No additional aid is awarded.

Additional graduate scholarships are offered through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. The Applied and Computational Mathematics Graduate Scholarship is a merit and need-based scholarship, which provides up to $1000 per term for a maximum of three terms. In addition to the requirements of a minimum GPA of 3.6 and maintaining a minimum graduate GPA of 3.75 and 6 graduate credits per semester, the applicant’s engagement in the profession and financial need will be considered.
