Earning a scholarship during the admissions process can significantly reduce the total cost of a legal education. At WMU-Cooley applicant can earn a 10-100% tuition scholarship that is applied to all 90 credits required for graduation. Scholarships are awarded in 10% increments. Scholarships are based upon merit and are determined by analyzing their LSAT score and grade point average using a formula that determines academic success based upon the academic outcomes of previously admitted students. Applicants to WMU-Cooley can expect a clear indication of their scholarship eligibility when an official admission offer is made without conditions tied to the offer. Applicant are encouraged to compare the total value of the scholarship with other scholarship offers applicant may receive. To get a sense of how much money can be saved by receiving a scholarship, the following chart illustrates the approximate amount awarded based upon each level of scholarship. Approximately 80% of of each entering class receives merit-based scholarships or need-based grants from UC Hastings. All students offered admission to UC Hastings are considered for general merit-based scholarships in the form of partial tuition waivers. No special application is required for consideration and admitted students will be notified in their acceptance letters if they qualify for merit-based scholarships. UC Hastings may reduce or deny any institutional merit-based scholarships or need-based grants awarded if students have other financial aid resources, other than monies borrowed through federal and or private student loans. Scholarship students will be given the option of using their scholarship to help pay off those charges, which will consume that semester’s award, or to pay off the charges in some other method, which will save the semester’s scholarship for future use. Students who are attending the institution on the CICU or any other full tuition exchange program are not eligible for merit scholarships, donor funded scholarships or D’Youville Grant. Their merit scholarship will be awarded for these summer and fall semesters. Cabarrus College receives for scholarships from endowed memorial funds, community organizations and foundations that provide funding for qualified students.
