What is the Integral Teaching Fellowship ProgramLaunched in Spring 2014, the Integral Teaching Fellowship (ITF) Program is a unique opportunity for CIIS graduate students who are interested in exploring teaching at the college level. The program will select up to six CIIS graduate students per semester (Spring 2015 and Summer 2015) to engage in a semester-long teaching fellowship. Upon successful completion of the program, fellows will receive a $1000 stipend. The program will select graduate students who demonstrate an enthusiasm for education, possess a desire to teach at the college level and are willing to make a full commitment to the fellowship program.

This is what prompted the Thomsons’ gift in 2015 establishing the fellowships. The Fellowship is open to all students who are declared majors within the Biological Sciences ( or graduate students), and awarded in Fall and Spring semesters. Recipients receive a $1,500 research stipend in addition to $1000 provided through the research advisor for research supplies and support. The Metro-Urban Institute fellowship is a one-year paid, urban immersion experience for seminarians enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Urban Ministry at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. This fellowship offers PTS scholars the opportunity to engage in communities and advance social justice, equity, and transformation in Pittsburgh urban communities. Albany Law School Clinic Justice Center and The Legal Project, a Capital Region non-profit that provides free and low cost civil legal help to the working poor, work together to help victims of domestic violence, better train and supervise law students and recent graduates, and create a pathway to employment for new attorneys. The new program will allow Albany Law students and recent graduates to work directly with low income clients on domestic violence cases, as well as housing, bankruptcy and other issues. The Graduate Center for Vision Research at the SUNY College of Optometry runs a summer research program supported by the National Eye Institute. The program is designed to help avoid a future shortage of clinician-investigators by attracting health professional students into clinical and health-related research as a career. Optometry students who participate in the program receive an NEI (T-35) Pre-doctoral Research Fellowship stipend of $4,775 for a full-time, ten week, summer commitment (June 1 to August 7 2015), and up to $875 for research-related expenses.
