The University of Alabama's Computer Science Department offers interdisciplinary graduate programs leading to master’s and doctoral degrees.

The Master of Science in Computer Science program is a terminal professional degree program. The degree is based on course work and an internship requirement (which can be satisfied by suitable employment). The program does not require research, a thesis, or comprehensive examinations. The GRE examination is recommended, but not required, for admission. The GRE examination is required for assistantship applications. The program is structured to make it both convenient and productive for students to enroll on a part-time basis. Another convenience is that courses are offered on campus weekday evenings and students have the option to attend class synchronously online.

The Master of Software Engineering (MSE) degree program covers the application of engineering principles to the building of computer software. The field covers the theories, tools and methods for systematic representation, design, verification, development, production, validation, and maintenance of software products including programs, prototypes, documentation, user interfaces, training and evaluation.

WVU's software engineering programs are unique, fully online programs that provide graduate-level software engineering expertise to individuals who are currently working in the software engineering and information technology industry. The programs serve both adult learners from the regional software engineering and information technology industry as well as distant learners taking the course from remote locations. Our typical student is a full-time software engineering professional who wishes to augment his or her work experience with additional academic enrichment.

We offer two programs at WVU: a graduate certificate in software engineering and a master of science in software engineering. The MSSE consists of five core courses that cover the five pillars of the software engineering life cycle and five-six advanced topic courses depending on the option selected (course work only, problem report or thesis). The graduate certificate consists of the same five core courses as the MSSE or 15 credits and a certificate paper; 12 credits can be transferred into the MSSE once the graduate certificate is completed.

Master of Science program in Artificial Intelligence offered by The University of Michigan-Dearborn, which focuses on providing students with a comprehensive understanding of AI and its applications. The Artificial Intelligence master's degree program is designed as a 30-credit hour curriculum that gives students a comprehensive framework for artificial intelligence with one of 4 concentration areas: (1) Computer Vision, (2) Intelligent Interaction, (3) Machine Learning, and (4) Knowledge Management and Reasoning.

he Information Technology (IT) track is designed specifically to accommodate the dynamic demands of the contemporary marketplace. With the exponential growth of the Internet and the wide-ranging ramifications of the accompanying technologies, the IT track will prepare individuals for careers that utilize, or are affected by, the latest technological advances and methods of modern business and industry.

The employment landscape for computer science-related professions is strong. Technology generally (and computer science specifically) dominate the job market, in terms of necessary skills for success in virtually all career areas.

Students who enroll in the Computer Science graduate program will achieve knowledge and competency in the core areas of advanced database system design, compiler design, algorithms and theory of computation, software design and architecture, and distributed operating systems. Students will be able to choose from a variety of elective courses in mobile applications, cryptography, machine learning, and robotics; and they will select specializations in data mining and predictive analytics, software development, artificial intelligence, or cybersecurity.

Designed both for students with undergraduate degrees in computer science, as well as for career-changers (the latter, via a nine-credit bridge-course sequence). The method of delivery will mainly be as a campus-based program, with the option to expand to offer some courses as hybrid or online. The courses will be offered in the evening in Queens. Program delivery will accommodate full-time students in either 3 or 4 semesters as well as part time students.

The primary mission of the Department of Computer Science is to prepare students for careers as software professionals and graduate studies in computer science and related fields. The department offers a broad curriculum covering the major areas of the computing discipline, integrated with soft skills such as teamwork and written/oral communication; students also gain experience working on group projects. Students are exposed to the fundamentals of computing architecture and computing theory, and focus their studies on the areas of software and systems development. Faculty work directly with students to help them develop the skills and knowledge of computing professionals.

The Master of Science in Computer Science prepares students for a wide variety of careers in computing or related industries as well as for advanced study toward Ph.D. degrees. The program combines a solid and practical curriculum with high-quality research and project-based activities. In addition to a general core covering the breadth of the computing discipline, students may focus on software engineering in globally distributed environments, computing applications for biotechnology and the life sciences, data mining/big data, and business applications.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Austin Peay offer both an online and on-campus Master of Science degree ideal for professionals in a wide variety of science and math career fields.

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science and Quantitative Methods bring together science and business skills to give students a greater competitive advantage in the workforce. Both degrees enable students to pursue advanced training while working fulltime. The concentrations are ideal for anyone with a bachelor’s degree, working in industry or military, and/or having a desire to advance their career with a technical degree. These programs are designed to allow students to complete their degrees while continuing to hold employment.

The programs are offered online, hybrid, and on-campus through the APSU Clarksville Campus and the Fort Campbell Campus allowing for students to gain admission for all terms.
