The department offers Ph.D. programs in seven areas of psychology: clinical, cognitive, community, developmental, quantitative, sensory and systems neuroscience, and social.
You could take some Psychology courses but better than that you could work in a research lab for a year or so. Core seminars are offered on Children, Families and the Law and Cognitive and Social Psychological Issues in the Law. Professor Emery is Director of the Interdisciplinary Center on Children and the Law, which is centered in the psychology department.

Of all graduates, 28% have tenure-track positions at universities and colleges graduates also produce and disseminate clinical science through research post-doctoral positions and other nonacademic research positions, through teaching and supervision, and through positions of leadership in which clinical science training informs decision-making and public policy. On average, University of Southern California graduates publish 1.3 articles per year post 37.5 have been PI or Co-I on major grants and the vast majority conducts research and does work with underserved populations. By the time students leave for internship, virtually all students have published, with the average number of publications exceeding 4. Students entering the program with a master degree are not offered advanced standing in the program and must complete the same requirements. Some students enter the program intending careers in which licensure is not helpful (e.g., full-time academic research careers not involving any clinical supervision), and licensure laws vary from one state to another. In some states, it takes considerable time beyond the Ph.D. to accrue sufficient post-doctoral experience to obtain a license, so these numbers should be examined with that in mind.

The school department code for the GRE and TOEFL is B994. Applicants are required to submit transcripts from each college or university attended or attending. ONLY if an offer of admission is made and accepted will official transcripts will be required prior to orientation. Admission is based on many factors, including but not limited to GPA, GRE scores, research experience, letters of recommendation, and evidence of motivation. Although we do not have a strict cut-off for GRE scores or GPA, Wake Forest University past 3 year average GRE score is 315 (combined verbal and quantitative), and the average GPA is 3.76.
As such, it provides broad training in psychology rather than training in a particular specialized area (e.g., clinical). Occasionally, however, students from very different backgrounds (e.g., different majors, different career paths, etc.) are interested in whether Wake Forest University program can help get them caught up in psychology to prepare them for a doctoral program in psychology.

The Behavioral Sciences Department at University of Michigan-Dearborn offers a Master of Science (MS) in Psychology in two specializations. The Specialization in Clinical Health Psychology is a two-year 48-credit program that trains mental health care providers to work in primary care settings, as well as traditional clinical psychology settings. Designed for highly motivated psychology majors interested in exploring professional opportunities in psychology-related areas. Topics include the analysis of data, the design of questionnaires, and the assessment of psychological attributes, among others. This course introduces machine learning approaches in psychology to identify important variables for prediction and uncover complex patterns in datasets, such as nonlinearity, interactions, or clusters. This advanced course will comprehensively cover the social psychological literature on normally-developing interpersonal relationships, with implications for relationships with family, friends, co-workers, and romantic partners. Students are exposed to a broad range of knowledge in cognition and perception and they are trained to think creatively and to develop independent research careers. Research includes behavioral methods as well as measurements of motor responses (arm and eye movements, locomotion), brain responses (using fMRI, MEG and EEG), perturbation of brain responses (using TMS) and other physiological measurements (e.g., hormone levels). New York University curriculum is designed to help students master the skills required to accomplish high quality research. Within the first two years, most students have completed the bulk of New York University primary course requirements. We require students to three courses in Core Content areas, such as Memory, Perception, Attention, Cognitive Development, Psycholinguistics and Cognitive Neuroscience. In addition, we require all students to take at least two courses in quantitative methods, chosen from a wide array of options such as probability theory, simulation, advanced statistical methods, etc. Many of New York University PhD students attend. The series organizer, Prof. The students learn outside of courses and labs, including several journal clubs (most student-organized). We also have developed a policy that encourages summer internships (e.g., in industry). The 1st and 2nd-year research requirements emphasize this goal. The content and methods courses are designed to provide students with the context and tools they need to produce world-class research on their own. The award package typically includes a full tuition scholarship, comprehensive health insurance and a stipend.
