Our Education Specialist in School Psychology (Ed.S.) prepares candidates to become practicing School Psychologists throughout the nation. Our curriculum aligns with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) standards and the expectation of the program is that every graduate will obtain the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential, and this certificate often assists with interstate recognition of training. Our program adheres to the Graduate Preparation and Credentialing for School Psychologists (2010) set forth by NASP and offers two different entry tracks: post-baccalaureate and post-master’s.
Students can earn a major, a minor or a major with a research concentration. Gonzaga psychology students have a strong record of presenting research and receiving awards for their work at major national conferences. Our School Psychology program is designed specifically to support you amidst today’s great challenges in educational environments. The School Psychology program offers a 90-credit post-bachelor’s program, which leads to the Educational Specialist Degree (EdS).
A practicum and internship are both required to complete the EdS degree. This form is provided during SPSY 501 Introduction to School Psychology and in the Student Handbook. The practicum is a developmental experience that begins with indirect experiences (e.g., shadowing and observing the site supervisor deliver school psychological services) and ends with direct delivery of school psychological services under supervision.

Chapman University School Psychology program prepares students to perform a variety of tasks including assessment for intervention, mental health counseling, behavior management and consultation with teachers and parents. Successful completion of a program of study in the Counseling Department at Saint Mary’s College of California, leading to a master’s degree and Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling, involves a combination of coursework, fieldwork, and a culminating project, as well as meeting the PPS standards and registering for the credential.
