Course Description
The Master of Arts in History is designed for students who wish to develop their skills in analyzing and interpreting historical events and interrelational developments in diverse areas of the world. Students are often secondary school teachers, college graduates who are preparing for a career in college teaching, and people from outside the academic world who value the intellectual challenge that the serious study of history offers.
At William & Mary, the history department provides a condensed, one-year terminal MA degree. Two semesters of curriculum will be required of the students, and it will include reading seminars with both a regional and a theme focus, research seminars, and an introduction to historiography. Additionally, students will create a research portfolio made up of two significant research articles.
The Georgia Institute of Technology provides a master's degree program in the sociology and history of science and technology. The emphasis of the program is on comprehending technology and science in a broad social and historical context. Students gain knowledge in history and sociology on a broad scale as well as research, social analysis, and writing abilities.
