Charlotte W. Newcombe Fellowships
The Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation funds a major program of graduate fellowships in the humanities and social sciences. These fellowships support students in the final stages of doctoral study whose work offers significant potential for advancing academic scholarship related to ethics and/or religion. The Institute for Citizens & Scholars administers all aspects of this program, including a rigorous national competition for Newcombe Fellowships each year.
Newcombe Fellowships are awarded annually following a rigorous national selection process. Eligibility for Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships is limited to students enrolled in doctoral programs in the humanities and social sciences at graduate schools in the United States. Awards are for twelve months of dissertation writing
Newcombe Fellows have received $30,000 for 12 months of full-time dissertation writing. (No half-year or partial awards are allowed.).21 non-renewable fellowships will be awarded this year. Graduate schools will be asked to waive tuition and fees while maintaining health insurance for Newcombe Fellows.
APF Wayne F. Placek Grants
The Wayne F. Placek Grant encourages research to increase the general public's understanding of homosexuality and sexual orientation and to alleviate the stress that lesbian women, gay men, bisexual women, bisexual men, and transgender individuals experience in this and future civilizations.
